No and I put it down entirely to my fathers highly effective (though entirely unwitting) example.

Throughout my childhood my father smoked a pipe everyday. He smoked it indoors and even in the car on journeys long or short and he did this even though at the time I had a mild case of asthma. He'd roll down a window while in the car alright but I still found the smoke an annoyance. I have never forgotten the irritation that pipe smoke can cause in the throat and lungs. As a direct result of these experiences which were repeated frequently between the ages of 3 and 18 I have never experienced even the slightest temptation to smoke.

Cool anti-trend

You could easily get the impression that a lot of people stick with their cigarettes because they don't like to be told what to do by do-gooders and know-it-alls. This is of course a bad reason to do anything but human beings have a tendency to do things for all the wrong reasons...
Aye! I myself have problems letting go of that particular wrong reason.
And smoking is about as much anti-trend you might possibly get...

I don't smoke but my boyfriend smokes. He promised to quit when we have kids but his attempts so far make me concerned this is unlikely to happen. Guess he might end up spending a lot of time in the garden.

hdcn shows some promise.

I used to smoke but there are just too many health issues to ignore.

I do not smoke, never have or ever intend to. I know several people who do, however, and they all seem to end up having serious health problems one way or another. Plus, my grandfather smoked heavily and died at 67 and my grandmother, who never smoked, is 83 and still alive. Good enough indication to not smoke, eh?

No, I've never done anything enjoyable like that.

Well I see smoking as the polar opposite of enjoying yourself. It's a slow, painful death. Not exactly 'enjoyable', eh?

I guess it would depend on how one defines or what one means by enjoyable. I for one would never enjoy something like smoking on any level.

A slow death is inevitable and smoking would only make getting there more unpleasant.

You've just given many people's definition of living.

It certainly is not, but at least we have recourse to our little comforts.

One of my cigar-smoking relatives lived until his late 90s. The anti-smoking media would have you believe that everyone who smokes ends up with lung cancer or the like, but plenty don't have many noticeable health problems from it, especially those who smoke less than a pack a day, which seems to be considered the cigarette-addict's standard. That's not to say there's not a risk, though. I think you're definitely taking the safer route.

I'm sorely tempted to smoke, but given that I'm underage, I can wait six more months before I'll be legal, so I won't have to struggle with buying vs. not buying cigarettes for a little while longer, since I'm not allowed to buy them yet. I've smoked a few times and enjoyed the calming effects considerably, though, and I'm not incredibly good at resisting temptation, so I might be in for some big problems after I turn 18 in October.
